Me and My Shadow

Under the sun, she’s down at my feet

Sitting there, all tiny and neat

Slowly she grows, then taller still

Longer, in fact, than I ever will

Following me, as fast as I run

Multiplying, I’ve never won

In twilight she walks through the trees

Cutting me off, right at the knees

Then in the dark she’s all around

Up to the sky and under the ground

Even inside me, chasing my dreams

I can’t turn away, apart at the seams

Every day the same, run from the ghost

That follows me, I’m her only host

One day I will fall and then her and I

Will be on the level and see eye to eye
